Sounds like a story of an Oscar winning movie, isn’t it? Well, it is not a story for any movie. This is the truth behind the origin of the city of Belmopan, the capital city of the country of Belize.
The first capital city of Belize was called Belize City. It was on the coast and was hit by virtually every major hurricane – and almost destroyed in the 1960s by storm named Hadey. It was soon decided to build a new capital in the center of the country named Belmopan. There is a growing number of people that have decided that this city is worth visiting or, like me, have decided to make it a new home. Fortunately, whenever visiting this new capital city there is a Belmopan hotel available to meet almost any taste.
